LOCATION
Following the tradition of the series, the fourth TRISTAN conference will be held on São Miguel, a beautiful island in the Azores Archipelago, Portugal.
The Azores are located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, 760 nautical miles from Lisbon and 2,111 miles from New York. Three groups of islands of volcanic origin covering, all together, an area of 2,335 Km2, offer a world of attractive contrasts.
The Azores Archipelago enjoys a privileged climate that is temperate and maritime and tempered by the gentle influence of Gulf Stream. There is little temperature variation with an average of 23ºC (73ºF), in Summer.
São Miguel, also known as the Green Island owing to the abundance of pasture and forest covered peaks, is the largest and most populated island in the Archipelago. The tempered climate of São Miguel contributes to the botanical exuberance and the beauty of the hydrangea, azalea and ginger lilly covered, as well as tea and pineapple (grown in hothouses).
General information about the Archipelago can be obtained at the following site www.drtacores.pt

The conference will take place at the premises of the University of Azores centrally located in the city of Ponta Delgada and within a very short walking distance (10-15 minutes), from the hotels for the conference.
